
Vesper Stamper

Vesper Stamper is an award-winning author-illustrator born in Germany and raised in New York City, with a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design and an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay from School of Visual Arts. Her debut illustrated young-adult novel, What the Night Sings, garnered wide acclaim — shortlisted for the National Book Award and honored with the Sydney Taylor Book Award, Golden Kite recognition, and a place on several “Best of” lists. Since then, she’s expanded her creative reach: her novel A Cloud of Outrageous Blue was published in 2020, and in 2025 she illustrated A Knot Is Not a Tangle — a middle-grade book by Daniel Nayeri. She also teaches illustration, gives talks and workshops, and hosts the podcast Vesperisms: The Art of Thinking for Yourself, through which she explores art, history, and culture.
