Exploring The Intersections of Art, Faith and Culture
A Creative Arts Gathering in Winston Salem, NC March 20-22, 2026

03.20 - 22.26
Before the first word is spoken, before the brush touches the canvas or the note strikes the air, there is silence. Creation begins with a clearing, making space for new worlds to exist. An empty chair waits in welcome, an empty forest beckons us to come aside. Even absence itself becomes an opening for presence.
At The Breath & The Clay 2026, we are exploring what it means to make space—for rest, for renewal, for art, for one another, and for the Presence that meets us in the emptiness. Together, we will practice making room: for the unfinished, and the unfurnished, for the overlooked, for voices not our own. In this space, we will make art—our response to the silence that precedes creation, our offering to the mystery and miracle that ever calls us onward.

The Breath & the Clay is a community of artists and creators showcasing beauty, life and wonder through works of art, community and faith.
Each year since 2014, The Breath and the Clay has gathered in Winston Salem, North Carolina for a 3-day experience curated to inspire, challenge and transform your creative and spiritual journey. The event consists of live performances, keynote talks, an immersive art gallery and instructional workshops.
Whether you are a working artist, a curious observer, a newfound experimentalist or a lifelong explorer, this interactive environment will liberate the creative spark within you and set you on a course of creative discovery.

What People Are Saying
This was a lovely event. I came in with my creative cup fairly low, and not only was it filled - I felt as though I learned more about how to keep it so. I'm still processing how much that means to me. So, from my heart, thank you for this event.
Amber
The content was inspiring, it was interactive, and left me wanting to dig in to the subject matter more
Kelli
I was dealing with a lot of imposter syndrome anxiety pre-event but I found myself experiencing a sense of community and belonging that I've never felt in faith spaces before.
